In 2007 the fire pit was built, however the concrete area around it was not very large. This year (2008) concrete was added to the parameter of the pit to improve the area. Once again Paul Prunty, Dale Fuqua and Curt Acord put in hours of hard labor to make it possible. Tye Prunty also help with this project. Thanks again guys!
The annual Daybreak Development Council Meeting was held in April of 2008. Those that attended enjoyed a wonderful barbecue dinner, participated in the future plans for Daybreak and were entertained by teens that have served and camped at daybreak.
A special group of men were honored for all the work that they do at Daybreak every year. Dale Fuqua, Paul Prunty and Curt Acord have donated many hours to Daybreak as well as financial support. Thanks for all the work you do!
Thanks to all that made the DDC possible and to those that attended. A big thanks goes to all those that continue to support the ministry of Daybreak. Many lives are changed because of you!!
A valuable piece of equipment at Daybreak is the 1971 International Loadstar dump truck. It is used for everything including hauling brush and dirt. It was a very valuable tool for the removal of all the landslide material from the slide in the redwood grove in 2006. It's age sometimes prevents it from operating but thanks to the help of a wonderful volunteer (and ex-camper) Sean Nicholes it runs "like a top". Thanks Sean!!!
Winds, lack of rain and "sudden oak death have taken a toll on the trees at Daybreak. A number of them have died and are a hazard in areas frequented by people. We have had to remove a number of them to remove the hazard. We paid to have a several of them removed while others have been removed by BJ or volunteers. One of the volunteers is Chris Gibney. A young man that attended camps here. It is young people like him that are such a great blessing to Caroline and me! Thanks Chris!!!
January of 2008 a project to improve the men's showers began. Dale Fuqua, Curt Acord and Paul Prunty have put many hours into the nice clean beautiful showers. There is plenty of hot water too, so all should enjoy their shower.
Everyone had a great time at the first Daybreak Development Council meeting April 28th. "The State of the Camp" was presented by B. J. Latta and Rick Oswald, Chairman of the Daybreak Board of Directors did an outstanding job of presenting the vision for the future of Daybreak Camp. Input on the vision was solicited from council members in breakout sessions. Input from the breakout sessions was presented to all. Greg Brown, board member, summarized the evening and issued a challenge to all. A BIG thanks goes to all that were present.
If you have an interest in becoming a council member click here for more information.
The tent was erected, speakers, TV monitors and lights put in place and the weeds cut at the amphitheater. The craft pavilion tarps were installed and the weeds were cut on the playgrounds. The roofs to all the cabins were blown off and two cabins had their mattresses cleaned. A great big thanks to all that participated in the work day. We could not do what we do without your help!
The Second Workday
Work began on the Snack Shack to replace the vinyl on the floor and the paneling on the wall. The remainder of the cabin mattresses were cleaned and many other project were completed to make Daybreak a place that all can enjoy this camping season. A big thank you to all that participated!

If you have photographic skills we need your help at FDC and Wildside. The scrapbooks that are put together each year are a big hit with the young people.
Several years ago the barn was redone. There was not enough time before camps began to complete the top and ceiling of the barn. Thanks again to Curt Accord and Dale Fuqua for there hard work to complete this project. These guys are true examples of what it means to be a disciple of Christ! Thanks Dale and Curt!
Christian Warriors serve at Daybreak by sanding tables and refinishing them. They also made the pool look really spiffy. Thank you Christian Warriors! You made a big difference!
Dale Fuqua, Steve Fuqua and Paul Prunty constructed a new fire pit for Daybreak. It is located just below the large (upper) playground.
The fire pit was used for the first time on Monday night at FDC. Thanks to these wonderful men that give and give to Daybreak! Wow was the singing great!!!
